Background:
Walkwood Secondary School was officially opened in September 1960 and became Walkwood Church of England Middle School in September 1972 when the three tier comprehensive system (First, Middle, and High) was established in the Redditch area.The school has a wide choice of after-school clubs organised for pupils. Sport is very strong at the school. Girls can take part in netball, hockey, football, rounders, athletics and cross-country running and for the older girls there is a very flourishing dance club. Boys of all ages can attend regular after-school clubs for rugby, football, hockey, cricket, athletics and cross-country running. The school aims to provide a happy, supportive and safe learning environment, which will facilitate intellectual and spiritual development for every pupil in a manner which ensures equality of opportunity for all, regardless of sex, ability, belief or colour.
