Background:

Situated on the outskirts of Worcester, the original buildings were opened in 1970 as a primary school for the surrounding residential, semi-rural area. A two-storey building was later added, due to an increase in the school population, and a private nursery now occupies the former school bungalow. The school comprises 14 mixed ability classes in a two-stream entry, but the school is still over-subscribed in some classes. As well as 14 classrooms with sinks and utility areas, it also has a computer room, dining hall, physical education hall, two libraries, a large inner patio and two playgrounds. The site also includes 'beautiful' grounds with an 'extensive' nature trail, amphitheatre, pond, conservation area and a field for games. The school has won 'numerous' awards, including district football, cricket and rounders tournaments, in addition to local music festival prizes and environmental awards at Worcester in Bloom. Extra-curricular activities are held 'regularly', as well as a 'range of cultural experiences and opportunities' including trips to art galleries. Several British and international charities are supported and Perdiswell has 'strong' community links with local public and private organisations and the church. The school aims to maximise the potential of all pupils physically, intellectually, emotionally, socially and spiritually in a caring and considerate atmosphere.
