Background:
The school has existed for over 100 years, although it did change sites in 1969. This more recent building is situated in 'extensive' grounds with 'almost parklike looks'. The three Key Stage 1 classrooms and the reception unit are based around the 'large' school hall, while Key Stage 2 pupils occupy a two-storey block linked to the hall by a library area. Red Hill offers a 'warm, friendly environment' which is 'more in keeping with smaller schools'. Older children are 'actively encouraged' to take an interest in the younger children. The school council is responsible for deciding on the pupil of the week award. Tuition in musical instruments is available including the violin, clarinet, brass, flute and recorder. Pupils also enjoy the outdoor and environmental education based in school grounds. 'Very good links' are established with the local parish church, and the church team leads school assemblies and runs an after-school club once a week. The school is full, and 76 children are registered for 45 places in the reception class.
