Background:
Salford Priors School is a Church of England School. It founded in 1656 by William Perkins. He was a local benefactor who wanted to provide education for all the children of the village of Salford Priors. The school is classed as a mixed primary school for children aged four-11. It is maintained by Warwickshire Education Authority and as a voluntary controlled school. It has strong links with the local parish church which is part of the Coventry Diocese. The oldest part of the present building dates from 1860. Two classrooms and a large hall were built in the 1960's. Two further classrooms have been built since 2000. The school now consists of four well appointed classrooms, three of them have access to an 'outside classroom'. There is also a large assembly hall with school meals kitchen, a library and a computer room. A hard play area is at the front of the school and a playing field at the rear.
